Injured AMA Road Racing Manager Morgan Broadhead may be released from a Utah facility to continue rehab on an outpatient basis as early as next week. Broadhead suffered a very serious closed head injury and a broken forearm and wrist when he crashed his GSX-R750 during a qualifying session for a WERA/AMA National Challenge Series event at Jennings GP in Jennings, Florida on September 28. Funds were raised to transport him via air ambulance from a hospital in Florida to a facility in Utah, near his family, with significant donations made by Miller Motorsports Park and several Pro racers. “He’s learning a lot of things,” said his mother, Lee Broadhead, returning a phone call to Roadracingworld.com late Friday afternoon. “He’s learning to walk again. All this stuff that I taught him once when he was younger. “He’s talking very well, and he can read now,” continued Lee Broadhead. “But the best way I can describe it is that his circuits are corrupted. Sometimes what he says makes sense, and the next time what he says makes sense to him but not to us. He doesn’t have any short-term memory at this point. He’s doing very well, but it’s a long road.” Lee Broadhead added that Morgan’s laugh and crooked smile have returned.
