AMA Pro Series racer, multi-time CMRA Champion and two-time Moto-ST Co-champion, Ty Howard will be competing in the Daytona 200 aboard Lloyd Brothers Motorsports, Inc. prepared motorcycles with financial backing from Ridesmart Motorcycle Schools, Rockwall Performance and North Texas Superbikes. “I am really excited,” said Howard. “This whole deal only came together a couple of days ago. As everybody knows the economy has really put a damper on a lot of programs. Once I had commitments from Ridesmart Motorcycle Schools, Rockwall Performance and North Texas Superbikes, I called David Lloyd and asked him if he might be able to get our Moto-ST team together and come to Daytona to race the 200. David called me back after he spoke with his brother Michael, and team members Chuck Looper, David Gamble and Dean Phelps and told me it was a go. As I have said before, the entire team is not only a great group of people, but they are really professional and they know how to win races whether its dirt track or road racing” continued Howard. “It took some thought when Ty first called me to figure out if we could make this work,” said David Lloyd. “We made a conscious decision with our race team, that we would not commit to compete at every round of a series if we did not have sufficient funding to unload the truck with a chance to be up front or be able to progress towards winning. There are a lot of teams out there that are willing to show up with the gun every week, but don’t have any bullets. That being said, going to select events properly prepared, like Daytona, made the most sense for us especially with a rider of Ty’s caliber.” “Even though we would have loved to been able to defend our Moto-ST title in the new Moto-GT1 class, with the sponsorship package that we have been able to put together for 2009, our dirt track program made the most sense to continue” said team co-owner Michael Lloyd. “However, I am really excited about supporting Ty in the Daytona 200. In light of everything I read about teams and riders, I am thankful that Ty thinks enough of our team to support him with this race. He is not only a very talented and intelligent racer, but also possesses a high level of integrity and is one of the true professionals in motorcycle racing today.” In addition to Ridesmart Motorcycle Schools (www.Ridesmart.info), Rockwall Performance, North Texas Superbikes and Lloyd Brothers Motorsports, Ty Howard’s Daytona 200 racing program benefits from support provided by American Agip, Vesrah Brake Pads, Komodo Leathers, Dunlop, Adrenalix, LP, Totally Graphics Designs, Dynojet, Penske, F3 Motorsports, Arai, Suzuka Tire Warmers, Leo Vince Exhaust, Motion Pro, Traxxion Dynamics, AF1 Racing, Diamond Chain, Vortex, Eurosports, Inc., Hotbodies and Damon Cooper.
