From a press release issued by Grand American Road Racing: SunTrust MOTO-ST Series’ Teams Eager for the Green Flag DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — With one race safely tucked under their belts, America’s top motorcycle teams are eager for the Green Flag to signal the start of Round 2 of this year’s SunTrust MOTO-ST Series at Virginia International Raceway on April 27. Featuring three classes; The Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport class (SST) which includes motorcycles producing between 90-120 horsepower, the BMW GrandSport Twins class (GST) covering motorcycles producing 75-90 horsepower and the Sport Twins (ST) class for machines under 75 horsepower, the ability of the riders coupled with the durability of their machines and the team’s ability in the pits will all come into play during this spectacular event. Last year VIR spectators saw the BMW of Nate Kern and Brian Parriott score the victory in the SST class. Leading all but one lap, this team showed fans their all-around ability, finishing 23.028 seconds ahead of the No. 6 Aprilia USA team. This season the No. 6 Aprilia USA team has a different scenario in mind. The defending SST champions, Aprilia has already taken top honors at the season opener in Daytona and doesn’t plan to give an inch the rest of the season. They missed winning at VIR last season and aren’t about to let that happen this time out. In the battle for the GST class, victory turned into a war of attrition last season at VIR as only the winning No. 8 Richie Morris Racing Buell XB12 of Shawn Higbee and Clint Brotz managed to avoid problems. This year Richie Morris Racing is fielding a bike in both SST and GST. With Shawn Higbee, completely recovered from his major accident suffered last year in Iowa, teamed with Danny Bilansky in SST and Tripp Nobles and Clint Brotz co-riding in GST, the action will be non-stop from start to finish. Leading the fight in the Sport Twins class will be Danville, Virginia’s own Brian Kcraget who, along with his teammate, easily scored the win taking 10th overall at VIR last season. Also back from a bad crash at Iowa, Kcraget, who rides for SpeedWerks.com, is ready to show his fans just how it is done at his hometown track. With just one race down, points in the series are incredibly tight and the battle will definitely be on at VIR. “Consistency is definitely the name of the game in this series, “says Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motorsports’ team manager and co-owner David Lloyd. “With just seven races in the series, there is no room for mistakes. A DNF can definitely hurt you, especially since the season finale is the 8 Hours At Daytona. Our goal is to be in a good position going into the 8 Hours and that way we will have a chance at taking our second championship.” Winning is what racing is all about and competition in the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series is some of the best in the country.
