Duran, Tillery, Prince Head Championship Battles Going Into Moto West Grand Prix Season Finale Chris Duran looks set to capture the inaugural Moto West Grand Prix overall Championship, while Scott Tillery and Bryce Prince lead the Formula One and Formula Two championships as the series heads into the final round of its inaugural season. Duran has a commanding lead in the overall championship, leading Tillery 398-303 going into the eighth round at the 1.8-mile Streets of Willow circuit at Willow Springs International Raceway. Aboard his BMW S1000RR, Duran has dominated the rounds of the series at the 2.5-mile main track, and Duran also has been a force in the middleweight classes aboard his Yamaha YZF-R6, and he currently leads the 600 Superstock championship as well. But hounding Duran throughout the season in the big-bore classes has been Tillery, the longtime Willow Springs racer campaigning his Kawasaki ZX-10R throughout the season and achieving a personal goal, winning the Formula One race in June. Tillery leads the Formula One championship over Duran, 158-129, with former AMA Pro Racing competitor Reno Karimian in third. The Formula Two championship chase has been the tightest, as only ten points separate the top three contenders. Prince leads Fabrice Vilder, 67-60, with Javelin Broderick just three points behind Vilder. Round 8 will be held October 12-13th at Streets of Willow Springs. Racers will run the course counter-clockwise. Moto West Grand Prix offers $40 off your Saturday practice if you enter 3 or more races. And for those who just can’t get enough track time, Motoyard will be hosting a track day on Friday, October 11th.
