Five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier is planning to forego the second year of his current contract with Yamaha Motor Corp, U.S.A. and sign a new two-year deal with Eitan Butbul’s American Racing Team for the 2021-2022 FIM Moto2 World Championship seasons.

The deal would give Beaubier an opportunity to prove himself in the World Championship and become available just as the latest batch of MotoGP rider deals expire.

Beaubier would replace fellow American Joe Roberts, who is moving to the ItalTrans Racing Moto2 team in a deal negotiated by Roberts’ manager John Hopkins. Roberts is replacing Moto2 title contender Enea Bastianini, who recently signed a deal with Ducati to move up to MotoGP in 2021.

Beaubier’s deal with American Racing Team is being negotiated by Wasserman Group.

Official confirmation of Beaubier’s deal is expected shortly, but the news has been confirmed to Roadracingworld.com by sources with direct knowledge of the deal.
