Joe Roberts and Iker Lecuona: SWISS INNOVATIVE INVESTORS riders in 2019

Joe Roberts will fly the flag for Swiss Innovative Investors in 2019. The sole American in Grand Prix racing this season, Roberts has a wealth of experience. He was MotoAmerica Superstock 600 Champion in 2015 after a number of seasons in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, and the young 21-year-old Californian made his debut in the intermediate category in 2017.

Roberts will ride alongside Iker Lecuona, who will be within the CGBM structure for a third season. The youngest rider on the grid in 2018, the Valencia native is determined to make a step forward next year and close in on the frontrunners.

In addition to the rider line-up announcement, SWISS INNOVATIVE INVESTORS – a company who invested fully in their commitments this year – have formalised the extension of their commitment as main sponsor for three more years.

With the future confirmed, the SWISS INNOVATIVE INVESTORS team now plans to conclude 2018 with results fitting for the incredible amount of work put in this season before embarking on their new challenge.

Joe Roberts: “It’s fantastic, I’m very happy to join the SWISS INNOVATIVE INVESTORS team. I kept an eye on the team as a fan of MotoGP and Moto2, and I could see their professionalism. Having the opportunity to join the team is a dream come true and I hope we can have a long and successful partnership together.”

Eric Wernli (SWISS INNOVATIVE INVESTORS): “I’m very happy to be supporting two very motivated young riders and I’m convinced they’ll form an excellent duo next year. Fred and I have become partners in order to secure this project and its budget over the long term. I appreciate the friendly atmosphere in the team. It means the riders, and also their families and the people around them, can be confident. I’m going to organise to be more present from next year.”

Fred Corminboeuf (Team Manager): “We’re very happy to collaborate with Joe. The goal of the team is clear and evident – we want to allow young riders to reach the best level. Welcoming an American rider like Joe to ride alongside Iker is great news. He already has some experience in the electronics given his record in MotoAmerica. I think he’s a rider capable of adapting quickly and who fits our philosophy perfectly. We hope to have great seasons together.”
