Jason Aguilar unable to compete in 2021
Jason Aguilar reluctantly announces that due to a change in circumstance he will no longer compete in this year’s MotoAmerica Superbike Championship.
The news, which comes only a short time after the exciting announcement that was set to see the rider who placed fourth overall in Supersport last year, is disappointing for all concerned and leaves Jason exploring opportunity to remain on the grid in 2021.
He would like to thank those that have supported him over recent years and those that remain loyal in this difficult time that forces him to pull out of the premier class within Motoamerica.
Jason Aguilar: “This is not the type of Press Release I ever wanted to come out with, and it really hurts to say that both myself and Aguilar Racing won’t be racing in the MotoAmerica series, in fact at all, in 2021. There’s been some complications that have meant we cannot fully put in place everything we need to run a successful program. It’s the first time since 2007 that I won’t be racing and it’s disappointing. We will continue to work hard to have the program operational in 2022 and I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure it happens. I want to thank every single sponsor, especially those still standing by me now. I am sorry that the whole Superbike dream is stalled but as I said we will continue to learn from what’s happened and come back stronger. I want to thank my Crew Chief, Poncho Rangel, who always works hard to make sure I have the best of everything. I want to thank all the mechanics, who sadly like me will be on the side lines now! It’s a tough situation and whilst I can’t go into certain specifics, anyone that knows me will, I hope, fully understand that this announcement is not only hard for me but personally upsetting as I put everything into my racing and to see it pulled away at the last moment is heart-breaking. I am hopeful of opportunities to race as a wildcard if the chance arises within MotoAmerica, so I don’t get forgotten. I will keep riding my Supermoto bike, and I am out on my mountain bike every week, and I will do what I can to be ready on a moments notice to fill in where needed.”
