Cameron Beaubier posted the best lap time during MotoAmerica Steel Commander Superbike Free Practice One Friday morning at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, northeast of Atlanta, Georgia. On board his Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR and using Dunlop control tires, the five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion turned a 1:24.916 to lead the field of 24 riders.
Josh Herrin was second-fastest with a lap of 1:25.184 on his Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati Panigale V4 R, and three-time and defending Champion Jake Gagne was third-quickest with a time of 1:25.369 on his Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha YZF-R1.
Richie Escalante was fourth with a 1:25.608 on his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R1000R, making it four different brands in the top four. Bobby Fong rounded out the top five with a lap of 1:25.709 on his Wrench Motorcycles Yamaha YZF-R1.
