Preparation Underway for Competition in MotoAmerica Series

Cypress, CA – Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (YMUS) today confirmed Cameron Beaubier and Garrett Gerloff as the official Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing Superbike Team riders for the 2019 MotoAmerica Road Racing Championship series. With renewed primary sponsorship support from Monster Energy, the team is set to return to action as a dominant force again in 2019.

“The 2018 Moto America season was pivotal to put Yamaha back on top of the MotoAmerica Superbike podium and win our eighth championship in nine years,” said Yamaha Racing Division Manager, Keith McCarty. “Cameron showed his strength and consistency by winning several key races in the middle of the season to take the points lead and win his third MotoAmerica Superbike championship with races still left on the schedule.”

“I’m really happy to announce that both Cameron and Garrett will return for 2019 to compete in the MotoAmerica championship,” continued McCarty. “I’m also very happy to announce that Monster Energy will return as our Factory Yamaha Road Racing Team title sponsor for 2019. Without their support, it would not be possible to field this very strong team.”

Three-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier plans to focus on the positive momentum he has with the team while he prepares to defend his 2018 Championship title on the mighty YZF-R1.

“I’m really excited for the 2019 season on my R1 with the Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing team,” said Beaubier. “It is an amazing feeling looking back at what we accomplished together over the past few years. The competition is only getting stronger, but we are going to keep building like we did last year.”

Garrett Gerloff graduated to the Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing YZF-R1 in 2018 after winning back-to-back MotoAmerica Supersport Championships on his YZF-R6. Gaining valuable knowledge during his rookie Superbike season, Gerloff visited the podium five times on his way to fifth overall in the 2018 Championship.

“I am so excited to be continuing with the Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing Superbike team and the awesome R1 for 2019,” said Gerloff. “They have been such a family for me, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I’m so thankful for the opportunity! I feel like I have really learned and improved a lot from how I began in 2018, and I’m ready to keep that going. I have bigger goals and am ready to be fighting for those race wins and the championship. I’m going to give it all I got just like always!”

The enthusiasm of McCarty, Beaubier, and Gerloff for 2019 reflects the strong unity felt by all who have been part of Yamaha’s successful race program, and the renewed primary sponsorship agreement with Monster Energy reinforces their collective goal of continued excellence.

“Our team has changed over the years, but remains dedicated to winning,” said McCarty.
