Fly Street/Motul/ADR Motorsports rider/team owner “Aussie Dave” Anthony is stepping down as a rider and has made deals with South African Cameron Petersen and Australian Anthony “Ant” West to race his Kawasaki ZX-10Rs in the MotoAmerica Bazzaz Superstock 1000 series.

West’s deal would be just for the next round this coming weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and Petersen’s deal would be to re-join the team for Laguna Seca and the remainder of the season.

“The team side of things has really been lacking, and that’s why my results haven’t been there,” Anthony told Roadracingworld.com Monday. “That’s why I’m going to step back and move over to the team side and try to get everything going back in the direction it should be going. As soon as I left Miller, that’s when I decided I wasn’t going to ride [anymore], I started making phone calls to see who was available and who would want to ride.”

Petersen started the season with ADR Motorsports and then abruptly left the team during Round Two at Road Atlanta, but Anthony said a change in circumstances for both parties has made them a better fit now.

“Cam got himself in a better situation now, and he wants to give it another shot,” said Anthony. “It was just perfect timing, really.”

West, meanwhile, is a former full-time World Championship rider who has spent the last few seasons as a journeyman racer getting results on a wide variety of machinery in series all over the world.

“The apparent thing about him is whatever he jumps on he works it out pretty quickly and he’s competitive on it,” said Anthony. “So hopefully we can give him something that he likes. And he knows Laguna.”

West is currently classified as a “wild card” entrant in the 2017 FIM Supersport World Championship even though he has competed in five rounds, finished on the podium once and is currently ninth in the current point standings. West has won two World Supersport races and finished on the podium eight times in his career. The 35-year-old Australian has also won a 250cc Grand Prix and a Moto2 World Championship race (both at Assen).
