Cameron Beaubier was fastest but the field closed in on the five-time Champion during MotoAmerica Steel Commander Superbike Test Session Three Thursday at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio.

Riding his Dunlop-shod Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR, Beaubier led the session with a 1:24.640 on the recently repaved 2.4-mile road course. That was slower than the 1:24.126 he did in Test Session Two.

This allowed Beaubier’s competition to close their deficits with improved lap times.

Josh Herrin lowered his best time from 1:25.110 to 1:25.057 on his Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati Panigale V4 R.

Herrin’s teammate Loris Baz improved from 1:25.536 to 1:25.114.

EasyHealthPlans.com/TopPro Racing BMW’s Superbike rookie Sean Dylan Kelly trimmed his time from 1:25.592 to 1:25.168.

Three-time and defending Champion Jake Gagne also improved from 1:25.736 to 1:25.500 on his Attack Performance/Progressive Yamaha YZF-R1.

The top five riders in Session Three were the same riders in the same order as they were in Session Two.
