MotoAmerica: Gagne Earns Superbike Pole Position At Barber

Two-time and defending Champion Jake Gagne captured pole position during MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike qualifying Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama. Riding his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha YZF-R1, Gagne lapped the undulating 15-turn circuit in 1:22.503 to top the field.

Gagne’s teammate Cameron Petersen was second-best with a 1:22.838, and Westby Racing’s Mathew Scholtz made it an all-Yamaha front row with a third-fastest 1:22.905.

Starting fourth will be Richie Escalante, who did a 1:23.015 on his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R1000R. Five-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier qualified fifth with a 1:23.026 on his Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR. Beaubier’s teammate PJ Jacobsen earned the final spot on row two with a 1:23.487.
