Hayden Gillim, riding his Disrupt Racing Suzuki GSX-R1000R, took provisional pole position during MotoAmerica Steel Commander Stock 1000 Qualifying One Friday at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama. Gillim’s time of 1:25.381 topped the 42-rider field.
Travis Wyman was next-best in the session with a 1:26.928 on his Travis Wyman Racing BMW M 1000 RR, but Orange Cat Racing BMW’s Kaleb De Keyrel was actually the second-fastest Stock 1000 rider.
Due to the number of Stock 1000 entries this weekend, some Stock 1000 competitors are riding in the Superbike sessions and those times also count towards qualifying.
De Keyrel did a 1:25.671 during the 30 minutes he was allowed to ride in Superbike Q1 on Friday.
