PJ Jacobsen was fastest in MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Free Practice One (FP1) Friday at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Riding his Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR, the New York native turned a lap time of 1:43.079 around the 2.7-mile course. That was 1.203 seconds faster than the next-quickest rider, Westby Racing Yamaha’s Mathew Scholtz (1:44.282).
The session experienced a red-flag stoppage and lengthy clean up after two-time and defending Champion Jake Gagne’s Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha leaked oil onto the track. Gagne did not crash, his crew was able to fix his leak, and he was able to finish the session.
Gagne ended up third in the session with a time of 1:44.291. Brandon Paasch continued to impress on his new Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R1000R with the fourth-fastest lap, a 1:44.454. Bobby Fong rounded out the top five with a time of 1:44.605 on his ever-improving Wrench Motorcycles Yamaha YZF-R1.
