Broaster Genuine Chicken Honda rider Jake Gagne was uninjured when he crashed his new CBR1000RR SP2 Superbike during the MotoAmerica Motul Superbike/Bazzaz Superstock 1000 Superpole qualifying session Friday at Circuit of The Americas.

“We had changed a bunch of stuff with the bike, and it was feeling the best it had been so far,” Gagne told Roadracingworld.com Saturday morning. “I got going pretty good on the pre-qualifier, and I knew for sure I could go better on the Q. I’m usually happy with what I can get out of the qualifying tires. But I messed up the first two corners of the lap and got frustrated. Then when I came into the double-right (Turns 13-14) after the back straight, I lost the front. I tried to save it for the longest time on my elbow, but I couldn’t get it to come back.

“It’s a bummer because the bike was the best it had been to that point.”

Gagne said that he was uninjured and that his bike was repaired, but he’s not looking forward to starting each of the two races this weekend from the fourth row of the grid.
