Four-time AMA Pro Superbike Champion Josh Hayes will race in the final two rounds of the 2022 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship.
“I’m excited to announce that the Squid Hunter guys called and they want to join up again and try to go win a couple more Supersport races in MotoAmerica,” Hayes announced Wednesday via a video on his social media accounts. “So, you guys will be seeing me riding that Squid Hunter #4 R6 Yamaha at New Jersey [Motorsports Park] and at Barber [Motorsports Park] to finish up the season, and hopefully, hunting will be good.”
After riding the Squid Hunter Yamaha YZF-R6 to a very close fourth-place finish in the MotoAmerica Daytona 200 in March, Hayes returned for a one-off appearance at VIRginia International Raceway and won MotoAmerica Supersport Race One.
The win at VIR was the 84th MotoAmerica/AMA race win of 47-year-old Hayes’ career. He is second behind all-time race win leader Miguel Duhamel, who has 86 victories.
