MotoAmerica officials have updated the balancing regulations intended to level the playing field for the various motorcycles raced in the Junior Cup class ahead of this coming weekend’s event at Road America.

According to MotoAmerica Technical Bulletin 08-2018, updated today, the Kawasaki Ninja 400 will have a maximum rev limit of 10,000 rpm, which is up from the limit of 9,850 rpm imposed at VIRginia International Raceway but still lower than the maximum rev limit of 12,000 rpm instituted at the start of the season. In addition, the Kawasaki Ninja 400’s minimum weight limit has been lowered from 150 kg (330 pounds) to 145 kg (319 pounds).

Also, the Yamaha YZF-R3’s minimum weight limit has been lowered from 140 kg (308 pounds) to 138 kg (303.6 pounds), while its maximum rev limit remains at 13,000 rpm and its allowed airbox modifications remain in place.

There have been no changes to the balancing regulations for the KTM RC 390 and RC 390 R, which are allowed to rev to a maximum of 10,000 rpm and weigh no more than 136 kg (299.2 pounds).

This marks the second adjustment to the MotoAmerica Junior Cup balancing regulations since the start of the 2018 season.
