MotoAmerica Superbike and King of the Baggers racer Kyle Wyman underwent successful surgery to repair a broken left arm today in San Jose, California.

Surgeon Dr. Maury K. Harwood used seven screws and one plate to stabilize fractures to Wyman’s olecranon at the end of his left ulna at the elbow joint, injuries he suffered when he crashed his Panera Bread Ducati Panigale V4 R during Superbike Race Two June 13 at Road America.

“It was a simple low side,” Wyman wrote in a text message to Roadracingworld.com after the crash, “but I fell to the inside of the curb going into the chicane and my elbow caught a huge concrete lip. I felt it snap.”

Dr. Harwood told Wyman that the damage to his elbow was less severe than he anticipated and today’s surgery went as good as it could have gone, but Wyman has already determined he will not try to race next week, June 25-27, at Ridge Motorsports Park, a.k.a. “The Ridge.”

“It’s too early to say how long it will be [before he returns to riding],” Wyman wrote in a text message to Roadracingworld.com Thursday. “I can confirm I’m out for the Ridge and I’m more focused on finishing sixth or better in the King of the Baggers race at Laguna Seca [to wrap up that three-round Championship].”
