Mathew Scholtz Honored With Superbike Rookie Of The Year Award At MotoAmerica Night Of Champions

Las Vegas, NV – October 12, 2018 – MotoAmerica held its annual Night of Champions on Thursday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, and among the motorcycle road racing organization’s season champions honored at the event, Yamalube/Westby Racing’s Mathew Scholtz was named MotoAmerica Superbike Rookie of the Year.

In his and his team’s first season racing the #11 Yamaha YZF-R1 in full MotoAmerica Superbike trim, Mathew notched a race victory, a Superpole, 8 podiums, and 14 top-five finishes out of a total of 20 races. He finished the season ranked fourth in the final standings of the 2018 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship.

After accepting the award, Mathew said, “I’m so thankful to Tryg Westby, Chuck Giacchetto, and the Yamalube/Westby Racing team for giving me an opportunity to race in America with some of the world’s best Superbike riders. My deepest thanks, also, to Wayne Rainey and everyone at MotoAmerica for giving us a racing series that pushes us to be our best. I’m so proud to be part of MotoAmerica, and I am looking forward to continuing my road racing career here in America for many years to come.”
