Yamalube/Westby Racing Yamaha rider Mathew Scholtz posted the fastest time Wednesday during the first MotoAmerica Motul Superbike/Bazzaz Superstock 1000 test session Wednesday at Pittsburgh International Race Complex (a.k.a. PittRace), in Wampum, Pennsylvania.
The test is being held in preparation for MotoAmerica’s race event scheduled to be held August 25-27 at PittRace.
The track is 2.78-miles-long with 19 numbered turns, and half of the track is the newly-created North Course.
Like with any new racing surface, PittRace is so far proving to be hard on tires and numb on feeling, according to riders like Josh Hayes and Jake Gagne, but tire wear and track feel are expected to improve over the course of the two-day test as rubber is put down on the track and the racing line is worn in.
Most of the permanent MotoAmerica teams are participating in the test as well as some privateer teams and riders.
