MotoAmerica Round 7 – Game on For Danilo Petrucci and Ducati as MotoAmerica Heads to Brainerd
The Great Lakes racetrack of Brainerd in Minnesota plays host to a crucial round seven on MotoAmerica 2022
Sunnyvale, Calif. — The iconic Upper Midwest racing facility of Brainerd International Raceway plays host to a crucial round of the 2022 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship this weekend.
Erstwhile championship leader Danilo Petrucci (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC) is in a determined mood after some much-needed rest and relaxation since the previous round at Laguna Seca, heading back to Italy to represent Ducati North America at the 2022 Word Ducati Week at Misano.
Petrucci knows this round is vital for his hopes of claiming a first MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, with the series effectively starting from zero as Jake Gagne is only three points clear of Petrucci, 215-212, with four rounds and potentially 200 points up for grabs.
Danilo Petrucci (Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC – #9):
“After Laguna Seca, I went to Miami for a few days holiday, then went back home for the World Ducati Week,” Petrucci said. “It’s nice to see these people’s passion for Ducati and motorcycles in general. It was very hot, but a wonderful experience. It’s my third WDW, and it never disappoints. I had been testing in Brainerd a few months ago. It’s quite a unique track, and that test will greatly help us with the setup. I want to get back the title lead that I lost at Laguna, and I will be looking for the top step of the podium this weekend.”
The Brainerd MotoAmerica Superbike action kicks off on Friday, July 29 at 10:20 AM CDT with the opening practice session. Race one is scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at 3:10 PM CDT and race two goes green on Sunday, July 31 at 3:10 PM CDT.
