Quarterley Racing/On Track Development, a team formed by former AMA Pro Superbike star Dale Quarterley and club racer and racing enthusiast Bob Robbins to help some younger racers make their way in MotoAmerica professional road racing by way of the KTM RC Cup, had a historic weekend May 12-14 at VIRginia International Raceway.
Not only did the team win both KTM RC Cup races at the event, the team’s four young riders – Draik Beauchamp, Jackson Blackmon, Jake Leahey and Benjamin Smith – swept all four of the top finishing positions in Race One, something no team has ever done in the three years the class has existed.
If winning both races and sweeping the top four spots in Race One wasn’t enough for the team to celebrate, Beauchamp’s win in Race One was his career-first MotoAmerica race victory and Blackmon’s win in Race Two was not only his career-first MotoAmerica victory but it came just five weeks after he broke his right arm in an accident while training.
After four races, Quarterley Racing/On Track Development’s Smith leads the Championship standings by one point over Beauchamp, while Blackmon went from zero points to fourth in the standings in one weekend, and Leahey currently stands 10th in points.
