Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s 17-year-old Tyler Scott took provisional pole position during MotoAmerica Supersport qualifying Friday afternoon at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama. Riding his Dunlop-shod GSX-R750, Scott lapped the 2.3-mile course in 1:26.605, which was close to Josh Herrin’s All-Time Lap Record of 1:26.361 and 0.8 second clear of the next-fastest rider.

The best of the rest was Stefano Mesa, who did a 1:27.415 on his Tytlers Cycle Racing Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.

Xavi Fores, who is riding his Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC Panigale V2 at Barber for the first time, was third-quickest with a 1:27.445.

Four-time AMA Superbike Champion and all-time AMA/MotoAmerica race win co-leader Josh Hayes was fourth-fastest with a lap of 1:27.568 on his Squid Hunter Racing Yamaha YZF-R6.

Scott’s teammate Teagg Hobbs rounded out the top five in provisional qualifying with a time of 1:27.737.
