The MotoAmerica Supersport race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was scheduled to run 16 laps, but a crash involving Nick McFadden on lap nine left debris and fluid on the track and brought out the red flag. The race was restarted for six laps.
With his third-place finish, JD Beach clinched the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship with two races still remaining.

Gerloff Wins The Race And Beach Wins The Championship As Yamalube/Y.E.S/Graves Yamaha Teammates Shine On World Stage At Indy
Indianapolis, IN – August 8, 2015 – Coming into the weekend with a solid chance to win the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, JD Beach didn’t really want to talk about the title. He’s a racer, through and through, and winning races aboard his #95 Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6 is always his focus.
On Saturday, the race victory went to his teammate Garrett Gerloff, but JD’s third-place result was more than enough to clinch the inaugural MotoAmerica Supersport title with one round and two races remaining in the series.
Wheels In Motion/MotoSport.com/Meen Yamaha rider Josh Herrin was in the lead early in the contest until the race was red-flagged and restarted with just six laps remaining. JD, who got the holeshot in the initial start of the race, also got the holeshot once again in the restart, and it looked like the stage was set for a battle to the end between JD and his closest points rival Josh. Unfortunately, Josh high-sided, which put him on the ground and out of contention. He did manage to rejoin the race a couple of laps down and finished in an unlucky 13th place.
Meanwhile, at the front of the pack, Garrett was stalking the leaders and waiting for a perfect place to make his move. He found it coming down Indy’s legendary front straightaway, as he made a perfect draft-pass aboard his #31 Yamaha YZF-R6 and put himself in front to stay. Garrett’s second win of the season moves him up to second in the Championship points standings.
After the race, Garrett said, “I’m so happy to get this win here at Indy, in front of all these fans and on the world stage. Congratulations to my teammate JD on winning the Championship. This is a great day for all of us at Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha. For us to get the race win and the Championship, well, it doesn’t get any better than that.”
Commenting on his Championship, JD said, “Ever since I was a little kid, going dirt track riding with my Dad back home, I’ve wanted this. It’s been a great year, and I’m so proud to win this Championship for my family and my entire Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha team.”
The Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha team will take a late-summer break and return to action on the weekend of September 11-13 at New Jersey Motorsports Park for the ninth, and concluding, round of the inaugural MotoAmerica season.

TOUGH EVENT FOR ANTHONY AT INDIANAPOLIS
M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki’s David Anthony endured a difficult weekend of MotoAmerica Supersport competition at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Participating in a charged atmosphere in front of a massive crowd alongside the MotoGP World Championship was supposed to prove a highlight of the season, but the weekendjust didn’t play out in the Australian’s favor. He opened the weekend ranked 14th in Thursday’s wet practice, and fought his way up to a still-uncharacteristic 9th in qualifying at1:41.644 on Friday.
Despite limited track time to turn things around, Anthony had a good feeling come race day and expected to charge his way up through the field on his M4 SportbikeTrackGear.com Suzuki GSX-R600. Unfortunately, he was plagued with extreme front-end chatter during the contest and was forced to take his bike into the pits at the end of lap 6. A redflag a couple laps later allowed him to rejoin the field for the six-lap sprint to the end, but the problem remained and he only made one additional circulation before calling it aweekend.
“There’s nothing much good to say about the weekend,” Anthony conceded. “We struggled all weekend. We struggled with the set-up and I struggled to learn the track. I thoughtwe were catching up and would be in better shape for the race but we encountered an issue with the bike.”
Despite the tough weekend, Anthony remains ranked fourth the in the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport championship race with only the September 11-13 New Jersey MotorsportsPark season finale left to contest.
He said, “I’m really looking forward to NJMP. I’ve done well there in the past and all the issues we hit this weekend will be behind us. I always seem to end the season on a high note and I’m planning on doing that again this time around.”
This year marks Team Hammer’s 35th consecutive season of operating as a professional road racing team. During that time, racebikes built and fielded by Team Hammer have won 59 AMA Pro National races, have finished on AMA Pro National podiums 138 times and have won five AMA Pro National Championships, (the most recent in 2012), as well as two FIM South American championships. The team has also won 133 endurance races overall (including seven 24-hour races) and won 13 Overall WERA National Endurance Championships with Suzuki motorcycles, and holds the U.S. record for mileage covered in a 24-hour race. The team also competed in the televised 1990s Formula USA National Championship, famously running “Methanol Monster” GSX-R1100 Superbikes fueled by methanol, and won the F-USA Championship four times.
