Beach Whales On The Supersport Competition At Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Wins His Sixth Consecutive MotoAmerica Race

Monterey, CA – July 19, 2015 – With the sandy beach located not far from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, JD Beach was inspired to surf his way to another dominant win in MotoAmerica Supersport aboard his #95 Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6. It was JD’s eighth victory of the season and sixth in a row.

Wheels In Motion/MotoSport.com/Meen Yamaha rider Josh Herrin finished second, and JD’s teammate Garrett Gerloff finished just off the podium in fourth.

At the start, JD got off the line well and was immediately in a battle for the lead. Continuing the focused mission that he’s been on for the past several races, the popular Kentuckian was not going to be denied from taking his place at the front of the highly competitive field. After he got to the front, JD concentrated on running fast, smooth laps and recorded the fastest lap of the race on his sixth circulation around the historic, 2.238-mile, 11-turn road course. JD continued to run his own race, which netted him a five-second gap to second place by the time he took the checkered flag.

“All these guys are going really fast,” JD said. “For me, I’ve always been pretty good at the starts, and that’s been my plan: to get a good start and build from there. We’ve got a lot of racing yet to go, but I’m still going to go at it with the same plan as always, which is to race hard and race fast all the way to the finish line.”

JD’s eighth win of the season balloons his lead to 49 points over second-place Josh Herrin in the 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship. Garrett drops to fourth but is still only seven points out of second place.

The Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha team will return to action on the weekend of August 7-9, when the MotoAmerica series shares the world stage at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.
