Yamalube/Westby Racing Gets The “Cold Shoulder” From The Race Weekend At Road America

Elkhart Lake, WI – May 31, 2015 – The rain and low temperatures weren’t the only things that left Yamalube/Westby Racing feeling cold after the race weekend at Road America. Superstock Race 1 and 2 on Sunday definitely did not go according to plan for the team or their rider Josh Day.

In Race 1, Josh missed a downshift, and the #00 Yamalube/Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 lost rear grip while going into a turn, which sent him and the bike off track and ended their race.

After repairing the bike in time for Race 2, Josh and the team were motivated to get a good result and end the weekend on a high note. Unfortunately, adversity struck again as the #00 R1 had a mechanical issue that prevented Josh from finishing the race.

The old adage “that’s racing” comes to mind, but it’s cold comfort for a team that leaves Wisconsin with zero points towards the 2015 MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Championship. Still, Yamalube/Westby Racing is a determined team. They’ll re-group and come back strong for round five of the MotoAmerica series, which will take place at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL, on June 12 through 14. The team will be hoping for a repeat of their Barber weekend last year, where they came away with two memorable race wins.
