MotoAmerica is planning to release a provisional 2016 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North America Road Racing schedule soon, probably within the next two weeks, Communications Manager Paul Carruthers told Roadracingworld.com today.

MotoAmerica has had a good idea of how its 2016 schedule would look for quite some time. According to MotoAmerica COO Chuck Aksland every venue that has hosted a stand-alone MotoAmerica event in 2015 has expressed interest in doing so again at a similar time of year in 2016.

The list of those venues includes (in order of their events in 2015): Road Atlanta, VIRginia International Raceway, Road America, Barber Motorsports Park, Miller Motorsports Park and New Jersey Motorsports Park. And the 2016 discussion with Miller Motorsports Park were with its new ownership group, Mitime.

But MotoAmerica has been waiting on the release of Dorna’s 2016 MotoGP and World Superbike schedules to complete the 2016 schedule.

In 2015, MotoAmerica shared events with Dorna at Circuit of The Americas (MotoGP), Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (World Superbike) and Indianapolis Motor Speedway (MotoGP).

Last week, Dorna released a provisional 2016 MotoGP World Championship schedule and an event on Indianapolis Motor Speedway was not on that schedule.

Roadracingworld.com asked Aksland if MotoAmerica will hold a stand-alone event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2016, and he said no, “but they want to keep the discussions open for the future.”

When asked if MotoAmerica would be looking at adding a venue or event to fill the void left by the loss of the event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Aksland answered, “The goal is to have nine events, so yeah, we’ve got to find someplace else to go.”

Aksland said MotoAmerica is considering several possible venues to host an event and would like to add an event in the western United States.
