Travis Wyman excited to make MotoAmerica Superbike debut Saturday at Championship of Texas
Weir Everywhere Racing BMW rider no stranger to racing at Circuit of the Americas
LAS VEGAS — It’s Travis Wyman’s second year racing in the feeder class for MotoAmerica Superbike competition, and he’s decided to debut his proven talent in the series’ headliner class at this weekend’s Championship of Texas.
The Weir Everywhere Racing BMW rider and Las Vegas resident lines up for the first time on a MotoAmerica Superbike Class grid in front of tens of thousands of racing fans at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, in support of the FIM MotoGP event.
While his Stock 1000-spec BMW S 1000 RR motorcycle may appear over-matched by the factory-supported machines he will race against, Wyman’s fastest lap at the opening round of the 2019 season at Road Atlanta would have been within the top 10 in the Superbike Class.
Wyman also has experience racing and instructing at the Circuit of the Americas facility. He finished seventh in the MotoAmerica Supersport race at the facility in 2016.
The team plans to use the weekend’s two Superbike races to continue developing its BMW package, including perfecting its suspension and chassis set ups.
“Making my debut in the Superbike Class is a big deal to me,” Wyman said. “My goal since I began my road racing career a decade ago has been to race in Superbike. This weekend, I will get my first taste of competing against the best riders in the MotoAmerica paddock. I feel like I am ready to take this next step and am amped to get out on track.
“My goal this weekend is to make superpole and bring home two top 10 or better finishes. We will continue working on improving the handling of our BMW S 1000 RR, and I expect this experience will make the team even more competitive at the next Stock 1000 round at VIRginia International Raceway.”
The team also thanks SBS Brakes for its continued support in 2019. SBS worked closely with the team at Road Atlanta to further develop its braking system, and the team enters the Championship of Texas with the strongest brake package is has had since it began competing in MotoAmerica last year.
