MotoAmerica: Roaring Toyz’ Bob Fisher is in for Road America Twins Cup
It has been a 10 year hiatus since Roaring Toyz shop owner Robert Fisher last competed in a Professional road racing event at the iconic four-mile-long Road America layout, but he still has fond memories of his podium finish in the AMA-sanctioned MotoST endurance race in 2009 and will head to Wisconsin in a week’s time to try for a repeat performance.
Fisher’s savvy move to get more track time at the last round held at VIR, by also entering the 600 Supersport class, proved successful as Fisher almost put his #711 Roaring Toyz Yamaha FZ07 on the Twins Cup podium, missing a 3rd place finish by less than a tenth of second. With two 12th place finishes at Road Atlanta and a hard-fought 4th place at VIR, Fisher is now tied for 7th place in the Twins Cup championship points standings.
As the MotoAmerica series heads north to cheese-land, 33 Twins Cup competitors have officially entered the Road America race. Horsepower will be at a premium, as always, on the longest track the series will visit and Fisher has his FZ07 tuned up for an assault on the competition.
Over the decades of Robert Fisher’s racing career, the long trek from Sarasota, FL to Elkhart Lake, WI has been made possible by the support of friend and longtime sponsor CJ Czaia of Czaia Law. 2019 will be no different as Czaia Law will back Fisher in his pursuit of that illusive Twins Cup podium finish.
