MotoAmerica: Declan Van Rosmalen to Race MotoAmerica Supersport in 2023

[Los Angeles, CA] Newcomer Declan Van Rosmalen is moving up from club racing to the national series for the 2023 season. After only two years of racing with the California clubs, Declan is ready to take his Yamaha R6 to the next level and join the MotoAmerica Supersport grid.

“I am excited for 2023. It’s going to be tough. Almost every track will be new and the competition will be fierce,” said Declan.

The 17-year-old Van Rosmalen, who was born in Australia but currently calls Southern California home, is relatively new to the sport. Over the past two years, he’s spent every possible moment on-track training and racing. In addition, to shorten the learning curve, he has worked with some of the best coaches and mentors in the sport including AMA and MotoAmerica champion Josh Hayes and Moto2 and MotoAmerica champion Toni Elias. As a result, Van Rosmalen has been able to quickly become one of the front runners at the club level.

“We know that steel sharpens steel and that the most effective way to get better is to work with, and compete against, the best,” said DVR Racing team owner John Van Rosmalen. “This is a big step for Declan. Our focus for this year is to familiarize ourselves with the tracks and develop him as a rider at the national level and have a lot of fun at the same time. Australians have always had an ‘underdog’ attitude which is part of my core values in anything I do and will be part of our team’s core values. We are very excited to be a part of the MotoAmerica paddock and look forward to the future in the sport for many years to come,” said John Van Rosmalen.
