Barber Beckons For Mathew Scholtz & The Yamalube/Westby Racing Team As They Look To Finish Out The MotoAmerica Superbike Season Strong
Tulsa, OK – September 19, 2018 – The Final Round of the 2018 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship is this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Mathew Scholtz and the Yamalube/Westby Racing team return to the track where they made history last year when Mathew won the final Superbike race of the season aboard the #11 Superstock 1000 Yamaha YZF-R1.
This year, with their #11 R1 in full Superbike trim, Mathew and the team hope to close out the 2018 MotoAmerica season with two podium finishes on Barber’s 2.38-mile, 17-turn road course. Mathew is currently ranked fourth in the Championship, and he still has a shot to move up to third in the standings, depending on how things play out this weekend.
“It’s hard to believe that the 2018 MotoAmerica season is almost over,” Mathew said. “We’re aiming to finish out the season on a high note by getting on this box in this weekend’s two Superbike races. We had a good weekend at Barber last year, so we’re hoping that history repeats itself this year. I’ve got a couple of MotoAmerica Superbike victories under my belt, so another Superbike win or two in Alabama would definitely be a great way to finish out this season.”
Superbike Qualifying Practice sessions begin on Friday, and Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) is on Saturday at 11:30 AM Eastern Time. Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 3:30 PM Eastern, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday also at 3:30 PM Eastern.

On Saturday from 12 to 12:45 PM, Mathew will be available for autographs at the Yamalube/Westby Racing transporter in the Barber Motorsports Park paddock during the Dunlop Paddock Autograph Session. The Dunlop Hot Pit Walk & Autograph Session, which takes place on pit lane at Barber on Sunday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, is another great opportunity to meet Mathew, get an autograph, and have your picture taken with the birthday boy. You can also get your picture taken with Lacy Contreras, the Yamalube/Westby Racing brand ambassador.
