Mathew Scholtz And Yamalube/Westby Racing Ready For MotoAmerica Dunlop Official Preseason Test

Tulsa, OKMarch 23, 2018Mathew Scholtz and the Yamalube/Westby Racing team will participate in the MotoAmerica Dunlop Official Preseason Test at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, this coming Monday and Tuesday, March 27 and 28.

But, before the test gets under way, Mathew and the team will debut their #11 Yamalube/Westby Racing/Yamaha YZF-R1 for the first time ever in full Superbike trim at the MotoAmerica Superbike Livery Reveal this Sunday afternoon, March 26, from 2-6 PM at Avondale Brewing, 201 41st Street South in Birmingham, Alabama.

After a productive off-season, Mathew and the team are excited to return to Barber Motorsports Park, where they notched an historic Superbike race-winning result at the 2017 MotoAmerica season-ender last October.

“The last time we were at Barber, it went unbelievably well for us, and we were able to finish out our Superstock 1000 season with a win in the Superbike class,” Mathew said. “But, that was a wet race, which is something I’m used to from when I raced in Europe. It was great to get that win to wrap up our 2017 season, and we’re confident heading back to Barber with our bike in complete Superbike trim, but we’re also realistic. We know we’re now at the pointy end of the stick, competing against Toni (Elias, the 2017 MotoAmerica Superbike Champion), Cameron (Beaubier, the 2015 and 2016 MotoAmerica Superbike Champion), and the rest of the boys. We’re looking forward to comparing ourselves with the best of the best starting on Monday and Tuesday. We want to keep on improving and pushing towards the front of the field.”

Mathew and his experienced crew led by team manager Chuck Giacchetto and crewchief Ed Sullivan, underwent a busy and productive off-season with a couple of on-track tests along the way to make sure the team’s #11 Yamaha R1 is ready to do battle in MotoAmerica’s premier Superbike class.

“We went to Jennings (JenningsGP in Jennings, Florida) a couple of weeks ago, and that test went really well,” Mathew added. “So, we’re all set to go at Barber on Monday. We’ve got a few things that we’re looking forward to trying out, and Dunlop is also supposed to have some new tires for us to try. The team and I are definitely ready to go to work.”

Following the MotoAmerica Dunlop Official Preseason Test on Monday and Tuesday, the 2018 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship will get under way with Round 1, the Suzuki Championship at Road Atlanta, on April 13-15.
