Mathew Scholtz And The Yamalube/Westby Racing Team Are Ready To Embrace PittRace This Weekend

Tulsa, OKAugust 22, 2018Round 8 of the 2018 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship starts this Friday at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania. Mathew Scholtz is currently ranked fourth in the 2018 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship and just 24 points out of third place. He and the Yamalube/Westby Racing team will be working hard this weekend to return to a top-three ranking.

PittRace is the perfect place to score valuable points and move up in the season points standings since the 2.78-mile, 19-turn road course suits Mathew’s athletic riding style, as well as the handling and braking prowess of his #11 Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike.

Last year at Pittsburgh, while racing in the MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 class, Mathew finished second in race one and took the checkers with a victory in race two. The “Durban Dynamo” is definitely hoping to stand on the podium twice again this year.

“Pittsburgh is a track that I really like,” Mathew said. “It’s tight and twisty, with hard braking zones. I had one of my strongest showings of the season last year in the second race at Pittsburgh, so I know I can be quick there. My crew and I have pinpointed where we need to improve and get the best from our Superbike, so we’re headed into the weekend with a solid plan to work on those improvements and achieve the results that this team and our sponsors deserve.”

Superbike Qualifying Practice sessions begin on Friday, and Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) is on Saturday at 11:30 AM Eastern Time. Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 3:30 PM Eastern, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday also at 3:30 PM Eastern.

Meet Mathew, Get An Autographed Poster, And More

Mathew will be available for autographs at the Yamalube/Westby Racing transporter in the PittRace paddock during the Dunlop Paddock Autograph Session on Saturday from 12 to 12:45 PM. The Dunlop Hot Pit Walk & Autograph Session, scheduled for 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM Sunday on pit lane at PittRace, is another great opportunity to meet Mathew. He’ll be handing out free, autographed posters and other team items, and you can also get your picture taken with him, as well as with Lacy Contreras, the Yamalube/Westby Racing brand ambassador. Also, be sure to ask Lacy to sign you up for the team’s fantastic sponsor giveaways.
