MotoBros grabbed the overall and Ultra LW GP Endurance with their Yamaha YZF-R3, while Pretty Hate Machine took the overall and Superbike wins in Championship Endurance aboard their Yamaha YZF-R1. Team Davis/Galindo took the overall and Heavyweight wins in the Race Tire Services/Dunlop Team 60 race aboard their Suzuki GSX-R750 and Yamaha YZF-R6 in the final rounds of the both Endurance series and Team 60 this past Saturday, October 28, 2017, at MSR Houston.

The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) Saturday schedule began with Mini and Lightweight Sprints, the 3-Hour Ultra Lightweight Endurance, then the Race Tire Services – Team 60, and finishing up with the 3-Hour Championship Endurance, bringing a day chock full of racing to Angleton, Texas. Sunny skies with but chilly temperatures in the low-60s and a chilly wind made for tricky conditions on the 17-turn, 2.38 mile full road course.

The Mini and Lightweight Sprint grids ran first, with over 30 bikes on the grid in combined entries each for the 500 Superstock, Ultra LW GP, E Superbike, 500 Superbike and 500 Classic lightweight sprints.

The 3-Hour Ultra Lightweight Endurance race had a large turnout, with the endurance classes of Von Hertell Racing Services – 500 Superstock, 500 Classic, Ultra Lightweight GP, and Road & Track Suspension – E Superstock represented. As the 37-bike grid lined up for the start, a battle was brewing between MotoBros, Your Pace or Mine, MiniMotion, and Sport Riding Coaching. The start lights went out, and the grid surged ahead with MotoBros and Your Pace or Mine? out in front, followed by the rest of the leader pack.

The MotoBros team of Cory Burleson, Isaiah Burleson, and Craig Thomson held the lead with Your Pace or Mine, MiniMotion and Von Hertell/Antic Racing hot on their heels vying for position. As the clock wound down, MotoBros held on for the overall and Ultra Lightweight GP Endurance wins with a fastest lap of 1:46.371, followed by the Your Pace or Mine team of Jeromy Kumper, Braeden Ortt, and Gavin Williams for second overall and second in Ultra Lightweight GP Endurance and a fastest lap of 1:50.277. Von Hertell/Antic Racing riders Isaac Bauman, Simon Cosmo Hertell, John McKenzie, and Jesse Smartt were next for third overall and third in Ultra Lightweight GP Endurance with a fastest lap of 1:50.215. The MiniMotion team of Chris Headley, Jeff Hughes, Ryan Max Johnson, John Orchard, and Mark Windham crossed next, fourth overall and first in 500 Superstock Endurance and a fastest lap of 1:50.254, with MonkeyMoto Tibs riders Joseph Guerra, Kevin Martin, Cody Mecklenburg, Jay Newton, and Michael Sanchez behind them for fifth overall and fourth in Ultra Lightweight GP Endurance and a fastest lap of 1:45.989. The Leather & Lace team of Shandra Crawford, Ana Durn-Oliveras, Chris Hamlett, and Albert Richardson rounded out the top six, with fifth in Ultra Lightweight GP Endurance and a fastest lap of 1:50.915.

The Team 60 race was next with the 15 team grid lined up for the start. The lights went out and the action was fierce, with the Burleson/Phillips team battling the Davis/Galindo team for the lead with the McNaught/Randall and Lambert/Raboin teams in hot pursuit. Burleson went down hard on a cold front tire, with Davis/Galindo picking up the slack and taking over the lead, and held it to the checkers for the overall and Heavyweight wins with a fastest lap of 1:40.343. Team Martins/Mears, finished second overall and second in Heavyweight and a fastest lap of 1:41.405, with McNaught/Randall finishing third overall and third in Heavyweight and a fastest lap of 1:40.281. Lambert/Raboin crossed next with fourth overall and first in Middleweight with a fastest lap of 1:1:41.975, followed by McDonald/Tessier with fifth overall and second in middleweigh and a fastest lap of 1:42.041. Fox/Ortega rounded out the top six with third in Middleweight with a fastest lap of 1:40.707.

The 3-hour Championship Endurance race was up next, and as the breeze stayed firm and steady, the 11-bike grid lined up to take the start representing Promomin Oil/Repsol- Superbike, Superstock, Antic Screen Printing – Formula 2, and Modern Classic Endurance classes.

The grid lined up, the lights went out, and it was on. The Pretty Hate Machine team of Jesse Davis, Andy Galindo, Will Gruy, Alan Phillips, and David Tiede got the lead aboard their Yamaha YZF-R1. Right behind them, Yamaha YZF-R6 mounted teams LocoMotion and Village Idiots wrestled for dominance. Buffington Homes, alson an a Yamaha YZF-R6 vied for position with Lawdawg Racing on a Honda CBR500R, with Suzuki SV650 mounted BT Racing at their heels.

Pretty Hate Machine gave no quarter, as they widened their lead to 2 laps over the entire field as the clock entered the final hour. The Village Idiots team of Cory Burleson, Chris Headley, John Orchard, and Garet Tomlinson got around the LocoMotion team of Brandon Altmeyer, Alonzo Contreras, Ryan Max Johnson, Hayden Schultz, and Mark Windham and held on. The Buffington Homes team of Chris Fields and Kenny Smith continued to to battle with the Lawdawg racing team of Danny Dominguez, Jordan Pence, Andrew Sukach, Bill Syfan, and Greg Wanless, as BT Racing continued to look for an opening.
