Granado vs Ferrari rolls on to Day 2
The two remain locked in battle on the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup test timesheets
Wednesday, 11 March 2020
Day 1’s fastest man Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorama Racing) – double winner in Valencia last year – topped the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup timesheets again on Day 2 at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, with a 1:47.546 enough to see him edge out nearest challenger and 2019 Cup winner Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE) by just 0.098. Alex De Angelis (Octo Pramac MotoE) completed the top three, into the 1:48s as the timesheets tightened up behind the duo at the top.
Granado and Ferrari were, therefore, the only two riders to dip below the 1:47 barrier on Wednesday, with the Brazilian finding around eight tenths on his previous best as the grid continue to get to grips with a few updates for 2020. Xavier Simeon (LCR E-Team) was fourth quickest on Day 2 in Andalucia with a best of 1:48.294, moving up from having ended Tuesday outside the top five, with 2019 Cup runner-up Bradley Smith (WithU Motorsport) shuffled down a couple of places to take P5 on Day 2, his quickest a 1:48.451.
Niki Tuuli (Avant Ajo MotoE) continued his return from injury and surgery in P6, the Finn impressing again and just getting the better of Niccolo Canepa (LCR E-Team) on Wednesday. Mike Di Meglio (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) slipped down to eighth on Day 2.
Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP), meanwhile, took ninth. The Swiss rider was once again the fastest rookie, and ended the day just ahead of Josh Hook (Octo Pramac MotoE), who completed the top ten.
