THE EGO CORSA DANCES IN THE RAIN AT SILVERSTONE

The 2018 FIM MotoGP™ World Championship has been characterised by a high dose of unpredictability this year, but unfortunately for British fans this turned out not to be good news last weekend as the series had its twelfth event cut short on race day due to adverse weather. In this scenario of mixed feelings and last-minute decisions, the one sure thing was the Energica Ego Corsa taming the new, wet asphalt at Silverstone with Neil Hodgson on board.

The all-electric superbike machine by Energica and the former British and World Superbike champion ventured out on track to complete a full demo lap of the Silverstonecircuit despite the treacherous conditions of a rainy late-summer English Sunday in the East Midlands.

“I had a really good experience” said Neil Hodgson. “Needless to say it wasn’t easy, obviously, because you cannot really feel how a motorcycle feels like on a wet track. That said, I was pleasantly surprised with what I experienced; my main question mark before trying the bike was the feeling with the power and the tyres – the throttle connection – but it was there and it was good! It just felt very similar to what I’ve been used to in my career. Hopefully I’ll get another chance to ride it in the dry somewhere, just to have the chance to make a full evaluation of the bike on the dry, but I’m happy with what I saw! I can officially say that people will be in for some good entertainment when MotoE kicks off next year.”

The road to the first edition of the FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup will resume in a fortnight’s time at the Misano World Circuit in Italy, the second and final home track on the calendar for Energica.
