NON-STOP ACTION FOR ENERGICA EGO CORSA IN SUMMER HEAT
The road to the 2019 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup has been busy this summer, with the Energica Ego Corsa undergoing an intense schedule of testing at the MotoGP venues, but also away from prying eyes. Earlier this year, the 2019 version of the all-electric Superbike machine by Energica began an extensive developmental programme. Numbers do not lie: since the end of March 2018 the Energica Ego Corsa has completed an average of 60 laps per day, covering a total distance of 4000km. These impressive numbers show the ultimate commitment of Energica to this new, exciting chapter of two-wheeled motorsport.
The Czech Grand Prix is now in the books; MotoGP™ legend Randy Mamola rode the track-ready version of the Ego Corsa around the fast-flowing, undulating circuit of Brno for what was an exciting demo lap under the unusually-hot summer sun that has been shining on Central Europe this year.
“Having the opportunity to go out on the Ego Corsa in Brno was great” says Randy Mamola. “I had no idea what to expect but then the moment I turned the throttle the feeling of torque and push from the bike put a smile on my face; this uniqueness made me want to ride it more and more. The Enel MotoE World Cup will for sure be an interesting class to follow in 2019. Congratulations to Dorna, the FIM and Energica!”
August is a very busy month, however, and the action will resume in a few days time at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, with the 2019 Ego Corsa back in action with Loris Capirossi and Energica’s test rider Alessandro Brannetti, who will evaluate the bike settings and performance on the long run.
The demo lap for the Austrian Grand Prix, instead, will be performed by former MotoGP star and current commentator Alex Hoffmann, who after retiring from professional racing has been a test rider himself for many years. Hoffmann will take to the track on Sunday 12 August at 13:20 local time (GMT +2).
“I’m very curious to try the Energica Ego Corsa,” says Alex Hoffmann. “Many riders have done it before me and now it’s my turn. I have driven electric cars before, but never a motorcycle, so it’ll be a first for me. It’s going to be a very special event because Servus TV – the television network I work for in MotoGP – is going to broadcast the demo lap live with me doing the commentary aboard the bike. It’s going to be quite special!”
