EGO CORSA PREPARES FOR EXCITING THAI DEBUT
The MotoGP World Championship heads to uncharted territory as this weekend the series will make its debut at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand, for the first of four trips in a row away from Europe. Located almost 400km north-east of Thailand’s capital city Bangkok and on the outskirts of the rising town of Buri Ram, the circuit has already hosted four events of the Superbike World Championship.
Back in 2015, a Thai rider with a previous long career between 250cc and Moto2 made history by winning the very first World Supersport race held at the Chang International Circuit, sending the crowd into a frenzy. This weekend, Ratthapark Wilairot will take the Energica Ego Corsa for a spin around the 4.6km (2.83mile) ‘stop & go’ circuit in front of his home fans in what will be an extremely exciting first-ever #ThaiGP.
“The Chang International Circuit holds what surely is the best memory of my racing career,” says Ratthapark Wilairot. “So I am really happy to be the rider chosen to perform the demo lap on the Ego Corsa. It will be the first time for this bike on an Asian circuit, so I’m proud that it will happen in my country and proud to be the one to actually ride the bike! This is a great initiative and I’m sure the crowd will be interested in seeing it live around the track. I’ve heard and read a lot about it and I cannot wait to try it!”
The 15th demo lap of the season will get underway at the Buriram International Circuit on Sunday 7 October at 13:20 local time (GMT +7).
At the same time, back in Europe and more precisely at Cologne’s Intermot motorcycle fair, the demo lap version of the Ego Corsa is currently on display. Next month, the final version of the bike for the 2019 FIM Enel MotoE™ World Cup will be unveiled to the public at Milan’s EICMA motorcycle exhibition.
