In the build up to this weekend’s A-Style Grand Prix of Japan, one of the busiest and most fashionable districts in Japan experienced the adrenaline and excitement of MotoGP first hand on Wednesday afternoon, as the world’s fastest motorcycles and best riders made a special appearance in Tokyo. A crowd of 3,000 MotoGP fans gathered in the Japanese capital’s Shinjuku Square for a full day of MotoGP activity, which included visits from current World Champion Nicky Hayden, series leader Casey Stoner and former multiple title winner Valentino Rossi. In a two hour session commencing at 5pm local time the trio of stars were joined on stage by premier-class colleagues Colin Edwards, Carlos Checa, Chris Vermeulen, Randy de Puniet and Anthony West in addition to home favourites Shinya Nakano and Makoto Tamada to answer questions from the crowd. On display throughout the day on a special stage were the Ducati Desmosedici GP7, the Yamaha YZR-M1, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR, the Suzuki GSV-R and the Honda RC212V. The supporters got a taste of the Motegi MotoGP atmosphere to come this weekend, as the riders signed autographs and umbrella girls handed out goodies to the fans. One lucky competition winner was invited onto the stage to meet Fiat Yamaha star Rossi and received a superb prize of an access all areas pass for the paddock at this weekend’s Grand Prix at Motegi. Joking with the crowd, Rossi at one point shouted: “I’ll meet you all for a meal across the road later!” The Doctor then commented: “It was fantastic to meet so many fans and again see the passion for MotoGP which they have here in Japan.” The fifteenth round of the MotoGP World Championship, the A-Style Grand Prix of Japan, takes place at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit this Sunday, 23rd September.
