The Lucas Oil Indy Mile AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National thrilled a record-breaking crowd in 2008 when it returned after nine years. Fans saw a fantastic duel to the finish between 2008 GNC Twins champ Kenny Coolbeth and former champ Chris Carr. In the end, Carr edged Coolbeth for the victory by a mere 0.03 seconds. Undoubtedly, one of the keys to the success of the return of the “crown jewel” of the American Motorcyclist Association Pro Racing’s oldest and most traditional professional racing series to Indianapolis was the fact that it was held on the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis Moto GP weekend at the crosstown Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This year, the fans descending on Indianapolis from around the globe will again have the chance to see the exciting handlebar-to-handlebar dirt track action of AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National action at the Indy Mile.
