With persistent media speculation recently involving Motorcycling Australia (MA) and the Australian Superbike Championship (ASC), MA CEO David White would like to release the following statement: Motorcycling Australia and AUSCO are currently in the final year of a five-year arrangement for the promotion of the ASC. The contract stipulates that in this fifth year, the Championship and promotion of the Championship will undergo a review period. We have begun this review period by requesting information from Terry O’Neill (AUSCO) to assist us in the review. Terry O’Neill was also invited to attend an MA Board Meeting (on Wednesday 16 April), to which he could not attend because of commitments at Mallala. Another meeting time will be planned in the future. MA has not actively gone seeking appointments with potential promoters for the ASC, however, we are always open to hearing ideas from anyone who has an interest in our sport, and we are obliged, in the interests of the sport, to listen. We are aware of the profile that this issue has gained through the media, and would like everyone to rest assured that we will keep working through this in the best interests of our sport.
