MA to Introduce New Anti-Doping Seminar at 2018 AUS-X Open

7th November 2018

Responsible behaviour and sportsmanship are at the core of what drives Motorcycling Australia (MA) to support the motorcycle industry, its athletes and its fans. To secure the growth of the Australian motorcycle sport and ensure it meets international standards, MA has organised a new anti-doping educational seminar at the 2018 Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney.

In a partnership with the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA), MA will provide athletes, coaches and support staff of the 2018 Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney with anti-doping information and education on Friday November 9 at 1pm for junior competitors and at 1:45pm for senior competitors. These seminars will run for 40 minutes and are aimed at assisting all competing athletes and their support staff in gaining a clear understanding of Australia’s Anti-Doping Legislation which acts in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

MA and ASADA have a vision of expanding these educational seminars to a broader collection of events across numerous disciplines in 2019. MA CEO, Peter Doyle, was at the forefront of this partnership, stating “the importance of educating our riders and their teams around the Australian Anti-Doping Legislation is paramount to the future success of our industry. We need to ensure our riders uphold this legislation and recognise that failure to do so can harm their chances at future success,” explained Doyle.

These new face-to-face training sessions are designed to engage riders, coaches and support staff on what Australian Legislation is on anti-doping.

MA strongly advises all interested parties to complete the free ASADA Level 1 Anti-Doping Course prior to the seminar, in order to assist in developing a broader understanding on anti-doping issues.

Further information regarding ASADA legislation and procedures can be found on the ASADA website: www.asada.gov.au.
