MOTORPOINT RIDES BRITISH SUPERSPORT CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE SPONSORSHIP INTO 2013 Motorpoint, the UK’s leading car supermarket, has extended its title sponsorship of the British Supersport Championship, and become a full associate sponsor of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, for the 2013 season. The new partnership with series promoter MotorSport Vision will see the car supermarket chain support the 12-race calendar, at iconic British tracks including Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park. The thrilling Supersport Championship seasons of 2011 and 2012 delivered some enthralling action, and the influx of new riders and teams means that 2013 looks set to deliver new highs of competition and entertainment. This year’s Motorpoint British Supersport season features the championship’s strongest ever rider line up. Australian Glen Richards (Smiths Triumph) returns to defend his title while former champions Alastair Seeley (Gearlink Kawasaki) and Stuart Easton (Martrain Yamaha) will be aiming for their second championship crown. Former runners-up Ben Wilson (Gearlink Kawasaki) and Billy McConnell (Smiths Triumph) will seek a maiden title, while up-and-coming riders Richard Cooper (Oxford TAG Triumph), Scott Smart (Oxford TAG Triumph), Graeme Gowland (Seton Yamaha) and Jason O’Halloran (Samsung Honda) are undoubtedly set to feature as contenders. Announcing the new sponsorship deal, Motorpoint owner and managing director, David Shelton, explained: “We’re thrilled to be involved with the British Supersport Championship once again, because it’s something we feel passionate about. We’ve supported the series since 2009 and, for us, it’s the pinnacle of two-wheel racing. We’ll hold a number of fan engagement events at Motorpoint sites, as part of the build-up to selected race weekends.” MCE British Superbike Championship Series Director Stuart Higgs, concluded: “We’re proud that Motorpoint has extended and increased its partnership with us for the 2013 season. The calibre of riders and teams in this year’s Motorpoint British Supersport Championship is at an all-time high and I’m delighted that Motorpoint has also become a full associate level sponsor of the MCE British Superbike Championship.” All rounds of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship will be broadcast live on British Eurosport, with additional coverage on ITV, and the championship’s two-race format spread over each weekend is hugely popular with spectators. Details of the fan engagement events at Motorpoint sites will be published on motorpointsupersport.co.uk the new online home of Motorpoint British Supersport. The opening round of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship takes place at Brands Hatch on 5/6/7 April. For more information visit www.britishsuperbike.com and www.motorpointsupersport.co.uk
