Movistar increase MotoGP™ presence with Aragón title sponsorship

Dorna Sports is pleased to announce that Movistar will be the Title Sponsor for the Gran Premio de Aragón, as the Spanish telecommunications giant further increase their association with the MotoGP™ World Championship.

Having already become the title sponsor of the factory Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team, with their logo taking pride of place on the bikes of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, and with a new MovistarTV MotoGP channel providing in-depth coverage of the World Championship in Spain, the latest sponsorship agreement provides further exposure for the company in the sport.

As well as becoming the title sponsor of the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón from this year and for the following years Movistar will also enjoy further presence at additional MotoGP™ rounds with trackside advertising.

The Aragón weekend has become one of the most popular on the calendar since its introduction in 2010, and it was rewarded with the IRTA Best Grand Prix of the Year award, the first time a circuit had received the prize in its debut year.

Pau Serracanta, Managing Director, Commercial Area at Dorna Sports, commented: “We are delighted to see a brand such as Movistar returning to the MotoGP™ World Championship. They are also of course the new main sponsors of the factory Yamaha team with two great riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi in the ranks and now they will be the title sponsor of the Aragón Grand Prix, a well established World Championship round. In addition, their agreement to secure television rights to MotoGP™ in Spain this season demonstrates their commitment to the championship for the coming years.”

Dante Cacciatore, Director of Communication and Customer Experience, for Telefónica Spain commented, “Movistar branding has already returned to the MotoGP grid in style this season and the next step for us was to choose the perfect Grand Prix to associate ourselves with, to support a championship which we know so many fans enjoy. That’s why we picked Motorland and with the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón we are excited to see our name linked with this superb venue in Alcañiz. The sponsorship also strengthens our presence in Aragón which is an important region for us and is much loved by our company. We are already working hard to make sure the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón is as well attended as always and to make sure MotoGP fans enjoy another warm welcome at the circuit.”
