MRA Recognizes Top 10 Racers and Special Awards at 2017 Annual Banquet

Arvada, CO – The Motorcycle Roadracing Association finished off its 2017 season with the annual awards banquet held November 18 at the Lamar Street Center in Arvada, Colorado. A total of 232 MRA racers, family members, friends, sponsors, and officials attended this year!

The evening started off with a fantastic buffet dinner served by the Lamar Street Center followed by an inspirational video created by MRA VP Jeremy Alexander. The film featured photos and video clips of MRA racers and events from 2017 backgrounded with appropriately adrenalin charged music. Valerie Leveque and Jim Brewer served as masters of ceremony throughout the evening with President Jim Wilson, New Rider Director Jeff Brown, and outgoing Track Marshall Rick Grosse presenting several of the special awards.

Each class champion had the opportunity to thank their sponsors and supporters as did the top ten finishers from Race of the Rockies GTO and GTU. The MRA also uses this annual event to recognize the contributions of the corner workers, timing & score keepers, spiritual leader, safety crew, and other people critical to having a successful race organization.

The following racers & club members were recognized with these special awards:

Sportsman of the Year – Cindy Wulf

Bob Heaton Distinguished Service Award – Jen Grosse

Carl Sorensen Memorial Award – Brett Leveque

Don Bruner Memorial Award – Ryan Burke

Rookie of the Year Award – John McKown

The MRA will start the 2018 season with its New Racer School featuring a classroom session on Friday evening, April 13th and on track instruction at High Plains Raceway on Saturday, April 14th.

The Motorcycle Roadracing Association is dedicated to promoting safe and competitive motorcycle road racing events for enthusiasts in Colorado and the surrounding area. For more information go to http://www.mra-racing.org/.
