Jim Heideman Joins Motorcycle Safety Foundation as Business Process Strategist IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 18, 2006 – Look for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation to work ever smarter and sharper with the help of new Business Process Strategist Jim Heideman. Coming from automotive distributor Nissan North America, Dr. Heideman brings a quarter century of extensive business and training experience, applying the theories of education, instructional technology and organization development in both the public and private sectors to meet strategic business needs in customer service. “That means I’m committed to improving rider safety, getting the MSF working even more intelligently, using process improvement, all to better serve the training community,” Heideman said. “I also have a selfish interest in this. I like riding motorcycles.” Heideman holds a doctorate in instructional technology from Wayne State University in Detroit. He was an instructional designer for Porsche-Audi’s U.S. arm in the early 1980s before moving to Nissan. He later taught at California State University, Los Angeles, then returned to Nissan and managed the training department in the late 1990s. His work with Nissan took him abroad to assignments in Japan and Paris, where he oversaw training programs throughout Western Europe. “We’re fortunate to add Dr. Heideman’s skills and vast background to the MSF’s collection of talents,” said MSF President Tim Buche. “He’ll help to further refine all aspects of our operation, improving all we do in rider safety and education.” Heideman is a longtime motorcycle enthusiast, riding since the late 1960s. He first began off-road, including some local desert racing in Southern California, and later headed out on the highway, starting with a 1972 BSA Thunderbolt. He still owns the BSA, among other machines, and also enjoys a little classic car restoration. Since 1973, the MSF has set internationally recognized standards that promote the safety of motorcyclists with rider education courses, operator licensing tests, and public information programs. The MSF works with the federal government, state agencies, the military and others to offer training for all skill levels so riders may enjoy a lifetime of safe, responsible motorcycling. The MSF is a not-for-profit organization sponsored by BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Piaggio/Vespa, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory and Yamaha.
