MSMA Wants 600cc Four-Strokes To Replace 250cc Two-Strokes Beginning With 2011 World Championship

FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Changes to the Regulations The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Claude Danis (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in the presence of M. Paul Butler (Secretary of the meeting), in a meeting held today at the circuit of Motegi, unanimously decided to introduce the following change to the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations. 125cc class Teams may present only one motorcycle per rider in the 125cc class for Technical Control (as from 1.1.2009). Future of the 250cc class MSMA decided unanimously to propose to the Grand Prix Commission the following as from 2011: 4-stroke, 4-cylinder maximum, 600cc maximum engines, free chassis. A detailed proposal will be studied by the other members of the Commission.
