Team Velocity Racing Returns to VIR for N2/WERA Endurance
The Yamaha R6 will have a new rider lineup at the historic circuit
ALTON, Va.—Team Velocity Racing (TVR) grids up once again this weekend for the finale of the N2/WERA Endurance Series. The three-round series wraps up at Virginia International Raceway, a track where TVR has had endurance success many times.
Chuck Ivey, Brad Neveu, Brandon Salyer and Kirk McConnell will ride the No. 37 TVR Yamaha YZF-R6 with Pirelli tires. It will mark the first time all four have raced together as a team.
“The team is comprised of guys I’ve never worked with in a team setting before, but we expect to have a lot of fun together,” said Ivey. “Everybody will have their own skills to contribute, and I’m confident they will combine to give us a good race. There is a lot of excitement in the racing world right now about the WERA/N2 series in 2018, and TVR is looking forward to competing in it again.”
It was Neveu who approached Ivey about teaming up under the TVR banner for the race, and it will be not only his first visit to Virginia International Raceway, but his first time competing in an endurance race on a middleweight bike—Neveu typically sprint races an R6.
“It’s a lot of fun to be with a team: the camaraderie, and you have to rely on each other and communicate,” said Neveu. “It’s a lot more logistics than sprint races. I really hope we can be competitive. I know Chuck is quite experienced at VIR, and I’m looking to go out and put down some good times, too.”
Neveu and the rest of the riders are in good hands with TVR, a team that has earned multiple class wins and overall podiums at the historic circuit.
“I’m excited to get back to VIR because it’s my kind of track: fast and flowing,” Ivey noted. “TVR has had a lot of success there over the years, as well as some challenges. I have a lot of memories of my endurance racing at VIR, so I’m looking forward to getting back and adding to those memories this weekend.”
The four-hour endurance race will get the green flag at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday, August 5. The TVR Yamaha R6 will be on the hunt for a win with support from Yamaha, Yamalube, Pirelli, Vortex, VP Racing Fuel, Arai and ONE-X.
