Northeast Sportbike Association (NESBA) Announces Fundraising Effort to Purchase Additional Soft Barriers for Road Atlanta The Northeast Sportbike Association is pleased to announce a fundraising effort to help purchase soft barriers for deployment at Road Atlanta. The fundraiser will be held in conjunction with their upcoming three-day weekend track day event at Road Atlanta on July 6-8, 2012. NESBA members and staff have been volunteering their time since February to organize the event that will raise money for the Roadracing World Action Fund, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that promotes motorcycle safety through the deployment of protective soft barriers at race tracks across the country. On Saturday evening, July 7, at 6:30 PM there will be a catered barbeque dinner, after which an auction will be held featuring many great sponsor-donated items. Included in the auction will be a new set of Arlen Ness Leathers, Marchesini wheels, several Yamaha and YAMALUBE products, multiple 5-day NESBA trackday Packages, $350 in NESBA credits, Lifetime and Elite memberships, Tires from Shagmoto (excl. Dunlop UK NTEC) along with many other items. A raffle will be held for a new set of custom painted Sharkskinz bodywork donated by Andrew Swenson Designs, and commemorative T-Shirts will be available for purchase. One hundred percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Roadracing World Action Fund and designated for the purchase of soft barriers for use at Road Atlanta. The cost for dinner is $20, T-shirts are $20, and raffle tickets are $20 each or three for $50. All auction items will be sold to the highest bidder. “As an organization our top priority has always been the safety of our members, and this fundraising effort gives us the opportunity to further that goal. An added benefit, these soft barriers will stay at Road Atlanta and be available for use by all of the motorcycle organizations that hold events there,” said NESBA Southeast Region Director John Allen. Allen went on to say “We are really excited about this event and the potential to raise money over the course of the weekend for the soft barriers. We want to let people know that they don’t have to be a NESBA member or be participating in our track days that weekend to attend. Everyone is welcome to come out and have dinner with us. Entry is free. For as little as $20 you can have a great barbeque dinner with fellow riders and racers, and you’ll also be doing something good for the motorcycling community at the same time.” Allen further commented “Of course, if somebody would like to ride with us that weekend, we’d love that, too. We’ve priced this event attractively in an effort to get as many people out to Road Atlanta that weekend as possible. Subject to availability, you can register at the track to participate in trackday. However, we encourage you to please register now to reserve your spot. You can go to NESBA.com and sign up online. The most important thing, though, is to come out and help us raise money for a good cause.” NESBA would like to thank all of our sponsor partners who are helping to make this fundraiser possible. Sponsors include Yamaha Motor Corporation, The Pig Lebowski Barbeque Catering, Irish Racing, Andrew Swenson Designs, Performance Cycleworx, Swett & Crawford, DanQ Suspensions, Crosslin Racing, MRP Motorsports, FasterNU Performance, LLC, Trac Jak, First Light, Shagmoto and all of our NESBA members and staff.
