New CCS/ASRA Lap Record For Jeff Wood At Summit Point

Jeff Wood Sets New Unlimited GP Track Record Summit Point, WV Riding a Suzuki 1000 Jeff Wood turned the fastest lap ever recorded in Championship Cup Series (CCS) or American Sportbike Racing Association (ASRA) competition on the Summit Point Circuit at the Summit Point Motorsports Park. The former record was held by Robert Jensen with a time of 1.11.471 set in CCS Unlimited GP competition on May 25, 2008 aboard a Suzuki GSXR-1000 during an ASRA race weekend. The new record is now 1.11.400 and was set on August 29, 2009 during the Michelin Team Challenge race weekend. Congratulations to Jeff and his team Roadracingworld.com/Higgins Powersports. More, from another press release issued by CCS/ASRA: Michelin Team Challenge Summit Point, Round 7 Summit Point, WV Round 7 of the Michelin Team Challenge Series wound up today at Summit Point, West Virginia with Arnie Hastings and Charlie Coleman taking the overall win and GTO checker aboard their SMI Signs Suzuki GSX-R1000. Following SMI were riders from the GTU class. Chester Auto Repair Racing’s Alex Shaw and Eric Helmbach on a Kawasaki 600 placed second. And a team on a quest to increase breast cancer awareness, Racing for Tatas’ Jonathan Elias, Gus Vidal and Krishna Pribadi rode their Honda CBR600 to a third place finish. The GTO second place finish was reeled in by Bio Tech Racing’s Jeff Lee and Jim Purcereto on another one-liter Suzuki. Third place in GTU went to Los Rapidos riders Urayoan Torres and David Hockenberry. In the GT Lights class Grease Monkey Racing’s Eric Helmbach and Alex Shaw topped the podium, with second place finishers Trinity Motorsports riders of Bobby Kim and Christopher Cooke aboard a Suzuki 650. In the A&J Recognition Solo class Antal Halasz took the top spot followed by Ivan Milan, fomer national champion in the series, on a Suzuki 1000 and James Rucereto on a Yamaha 600. The Series points standings following this race are as follows: GTO 154/Wisconsin Sportbike, 144/Central States Racing; GTU 216/Chester Auto Repair, 185/R&R Repsol; GT Lights 226/Grease Monkey Racing, 164/Design Integrity Racing; Overall 168/Chester Auto Repair, 141 R&R Repsol GTU, 125/Wisconsin Sportbike, 117/Grease Monkey Racing, 105/Hix Racing. The A&J Recognition Solo Class has already been wrapped up by Ray Hofman with one round left. The standings are 171/Wisconsin Sportbike (Ray Hofman), 100/AM Racing (Anthony Johnson and 79/Doxcon Racing (Aaron Stein). The final round of the Michelin Team Challenge Series will kick off the 26th Annual Daytona Race of Champions in Daytona Beach, Florida on October 16th, 2009
